Despite a lot of uncertainty the Mayor of Sioux Lookout is hopeful for near normal operations in the Municipality this year.
Doug Lawrance says a number of projects are in the queue including construction of a full service Emergency Shelter.
Lawrance says they are working with the Kenora District Services Board and hope to have the facility built by the end of the year.
The project is in the 2021 KDSB budget.
He notes another major project is expected to get off the ground.
Lawrance says they are working with the First Nations Friendship Accord, the Meno Ya Win Health Centre, the KDSB and the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority to establish a new Detox and Addictions Treatment Centre.
Lawrance adds staff and council will concentrate on implementing several recommendations that have been contained in various community-improvement reports.
