Former influential music producer Phil Spector has died while serving time for murder.
California state prison officials say he passed away of natural causes at 81 years old at a hospital.
Spector became known for his “Wall of Sound” orchestral arrangements in the 1960s in pop hits like “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Be My Baby” and “He’s a Rebel.”
In 2009, Spector was convicted of the murder of 40-year-old actress Lana Clarkson and was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison.
