Karl Lang
February 10th, 1931 – January 10th, 2021
It is with our deepest regrets that we must announce that Karl Lang, our beloved patriarch passed away in the early hours of January 10th with his dearest wife Millie by his side.
Karl was born in Weißenberg, Germany on February 10, 1931 to Johann Friedrich and Frieda Lang. At the end of the Second World War around the age of 14, Karl began his journey to complete his trade to become a mechanic. At the age of 19, Karl joined the U.S Army and served for 4 years working in his field before deciding to move with his wife and 2 small children to Canada in 1955.
Karl and family settled in Dryden where he worked as an automotive mechanic for a short time. However, he had a dream to open his own business which led him to move with his family to Wabigoon, shortly after their 3rd child was born. In 1964 he purchased property on Hwy 17 where he built Lang’s Motors, a Volkswagen Dealership, restaurant and motel that he operated for the next 38 years. In their spare time you could find Karl and Millie working away on their meticulously kept gardens and yard.
At times he was a quiet man, but he would never fail to show you his big brilliant smile. We will always remember the engaging stories he would tell about his life. Karl was a beaming light to those all around him and we are all honoured that we were able to join him in his journey.
Karl was a member of the Dryden Legion #63, Horticultural Society, Dryden Go-Getters, and the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Canada.
Karl Lang is survived by his loving & devoted wife of nearly 70 years, Emilie, three children, Erika (Wally), Karl-Heinz (Peggy) and Hermann (Roxine), 8 grandchildren and 3 great
