There are no more COVID-19 cases among residents at the Southbridge-Roseview long-term care facility.
Southbridge spokesperson Candace Chartier admits the deadly outbreak has been hard on everyone.
“Everybody knows we’ve lost some of our cherished residents and it has been devastating for us and our families,” says Chartier
The Southbridge official tells us they are looking forward to having staff and residence vaccinated in the next several weeks.
The outbreak began on November 17th and resulted in the deaths of 21 residents.
It also brought about an inspection by provincial health officials which resulted in an order to beef up COVID-19 safety protocols.
In addition, the outbreak also renewed the debate over whether the government should be running long-term care homes in the province but Chartier does not believe “This is a private versus public discussion, COVID is a very nasty, nasty virus that doesn’t choose who it attacks.”
