It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected, yet peaceful passing of our mother.
Mary Ann O’Brien passed away at 66 years old, on January 3, 2021 11:44 pm at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Her parents Gerald Pencoff and Bessie Adams predeceased Mary. She was also predeceased by her husband of many years Barry Thomas O’Brien. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted sons Shawn, Michael and Kelly; daughter-in-laws Ashley and Mandy; grandchildren Jordan, Joey, Thomas, Greyson, Brawley, Spencer, Evan and Carlos. Her siblings Thomas (Linda) Pencoff, John Pencoff, David (Tina) Pencoff, Bunny Pencoff of Kenora, Wendy (Mark) Pencoff of Fort MacMurray, Donald (Debbie) Pencoff of Edmonton; Lucille (Larry) Michaud of Kenora, Eleanor (Gilles) Vachon of Red Lake, Victor Cripps of Hamilton, Laura (Robert) Cripps, Kenneth (Jeanne) Cripps, Carol (Clifford) Kavanaugh of Migisi Sahgaigan, Richard Cripps of Toronto, and Hazel Cripps of Thunder Bay, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary was born November 1, 1954 in Kenora, Ontario. She grew up in Kenora and moved to Winnipeg in her early 20s where she started a family. She worked for many years until she became paraplegic from an unfortunate accident. Despite the hardships she faced she embraced life with faith and happiness.
She took very much pride in her children and grandsons. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends and creating laughter. She was known for making friends with everyone that crossed her path. She was caring, kind and empathetic to every single person she knew.
Her memory will be forever in our thoughts as the kindest heart. A small service for immediate family will be held due to COVID restrictions at Glen Lawn Funeral Home with interment followed at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
