Students with Autism will get more support in school thanks to a $7.5-million investment from the province.
The Ministry of Education is funding a new training program for teachers and educational assistants in all district school boards across the province.
“We recognize the difficulty this pandemic has imposed on parents. That is why we are enhancing this investment to further train our education staff to better support students on the autism spectrum and to foster a culture of respect, inclusion and opportunity in our schools,” says Education Minister Stephen Lecce.
The training program will start later this year and be delivered by the Geneva Centre for Autism. The province says it will give educators a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Applied Behavioural Analysis methods.
