A historical moment in the fight against COVID-19 for the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre.
85 year old Eunice Fiddler was the first resident at the William A. George Extended Care Facility to receive the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in our region.
Fiddler was joined by her daughter, Margaret Beardy and SLMHC Interpreter Tom Chapman.
Registered Practical Nurse Team Lead, Andrea McWatters administered the vaccine Thursday.
Earlier this week, the first COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Sioux Lookout in anticipation of the roll out of Ontario’s vaccination implementation plan for our region.
The province is rolling out the vaccine in three phases, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations first.
In addition to administering vaccines to residents and staff of the ECU, hospital chronic care patients and all hospital staff will receive the vaccine in the days ahead.
SLMHC says they have and will continue to play an important role in the coming months, as vaccinations will continue to be administered.
