Area residents are anxiously awaiting word on the status of a regional shutdown.
The lockdown is scheduled to end Saturday but there are concerns it may be extended due to rising COVID-19 numbers.
The Northwestern Health Unit reported 14 new and 31 active cases Wednesday.
The province registered 3,266 new cases.
Premier Doug Ford says “We’re going to talk to the Health Table and the Chief Medical Officer and get their advice. That’s the expertise that we are going to take. We are going to take that advice and we’ll be announcing that in the next day or so.”
Ford says there is one big reason behind rising rates across Ontario.
“We need more vaccines. We are going to run out. The shipment that’s landing, that we got 24 hours’ notice on, that’s going to be gone next week. The previous shipments. We are going to run out Friday at the latest. So, we need more vaccines.”
In the meantime, Ford says we should continue to follow physical distancing rules and stay at home when possible.
