A record breaking day in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area.
Thirteen new positive COVID-19 cases are being reported in the Kenora area.
One new case is also listed in the Rainy River District.
That’s the most number of cases in one day.
There are now 31 active cases in the region, 19 in the Kenora region and 12 in the Rainy River District.
A total of 192 cases have been reported since the start of the pandemic.
Meantime, the 20th death of a resident from the virus at the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home in Thunder Bay is being reported.
Officials note there are now seven active resident cases, and six staff infected.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting six new cases Wednesday, two related to travel outside the region.
The total active case count is 48.
The health unit adds four people are in hospital, one in ICU.
Provincially, there are 3,266 new cases, bringing the provincial total to 200,626.
There were 37 new deaths.
The province also reported the highest number of hospitalizations since the pandemic began with 1,463 people hospitalized with COVID-19 up by 116 from Tuesday.
