The Dryden Ski Club is patiently waiting out a province-wide lockdown.
President Matt Corbett says from now until January 9, alpine skiing isn’t allowed and the main chalet is closed.
Corbett notes cross-country skiing is currently allowed at the hill.
The trails are being groomed on a regular basis during snowfalls and you are asked to abide by physical distancing rules.
Corbett says they can’t wait to get going early in the new year.
“We would like to wish everybody a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing everybody in the near future. Please keep your ear to the ground and once we know more we will definitely reach out the public and inform you of when we are open.”
Corbett says resort operators and provincial ministries are working together to safely reopen and stresses the ski and snowboard season is not over in Ontario.
“Ontario ski resorts. We’re working together to ensure that we are prepared for implementing COVID-19 measures and able to abide by the framework and conditions to be able to operate under a ‘Ski Well Be Well’ standard.”
Corbett notes a couple of petitions are floating around in support of resorts.
You can find those at www.saveourskiing.ca or www.change.org
Corbett says the petitions are meant to ensure the ski season is saved and advocate on behalf of ski hills.
