Evolution Mining is spreading some Christmas Cheer to the Red Lake area.
The company is donating $10,000 to the Chukuni Christmas Cheer Board.
Chukuni spokesperson Cathy Majewski says they have received roughly 154 applications for hampers, about 30 more from 2019.
Majewski says the food boxes and gifts will benefit over 400 residents.
Evolution is spending another $10,000 to support operations at the Red Lake Emergency Shelter and $1,000 to buy gifts for seniors in the area under the Secret Santa initiative.
Meantime changes are being made to the Evolution Mining Annual Turkey Drop.
Because of COVID-19 limitations, the company wasn’t able to visit area first nation communities in person to deliver their hampers.
Instead Evolution has made a donation to Lac Seul First Nation to the tune of $25,000.
Another $10,000 is going to Wabauskang First Nation.
The money will be used to purchase turkeys and hams for their Community Christmas Hampers.
