It’s one giant step for Canada’s mission to send our astronauts to the moon.
Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Navdeep Bains Canada announced Canada has signed a deal with NASA to send a Canadian astronaut into space to orbit the moon in 2023.
“It will be the first mission to carry humans to lunar orbit in over 50 years,” explained the minister.
That was when the NASA Apollo missions were in full gear in the 60s and early 70s.
The mission is part of an overall plan Canada will be involved with which will see a new international space station, called the Lunar Gateway, launched into the moon’s orbit
The 2023 mission will not involve landing on the moon.
