A 42 year old Big Trout Lake First Nation man faces five counts of first degree murder as part of a police investigation into a May 2nd, 2019 fire in the remote community.
Provincial Police and the K.I. Police Service responded to the blaze at a home on Macheetao Road around 5 o’clock that morning.
Five bodies were recovered from the destroyed home.
Police say all five died from smoke inhalation.
The victims have been identified as 47 year old Geraldine Chapman, 12 year old Angel McKay, 9 year old Carl Cutfeet, 7 year old Hailey Chapman and 6 year old Shyra Chapman.
As a result of an investigation OPP say Archie Gilbert McKay has been arrested.
McKay remains in custody.
