Colin Stewart Chalmers 1952 -2020 (68)
In memory of Colin Steward Chalmers who passed away peacefully at his place of residence. He was born in England as the son of Doris and Gordon Chalmers. At age 18 Colin came over to Canada and settled in Sault St Marie, Ontario. He worked for a number of years at both Algoma Steel and Algoma Central Railway before becoming a MNR firefighter in Ignace. Colin advanced through the ranks, were he found his true passion, and finished his career as an Air Attack Officer in Dryden, Ontario.
Colin was a very interesting character who had many diverse interests including: fine art, climbing, history and old trucks. He was also well read and had a good sense of humour. Rarely was there a topic that he didn’t have both knowledge of and an opinion on. Colin also had a real fondness of nature and all the many critters that live within it.
Colin is survived by his sister Sandra Foad of England along with nieces Lisa Hudson and Emma Hunt.
There will be no visitation as cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Life will occur outside next summer.
If so, desired donations can be made on Colin’s behalf to the Second Chance Pet Network through Stevens Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 412, Dryden, Ont. P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted on Stevens Funeral Homes Facebook page or at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca.
