The MP for Kenora is expressing disappointment and concern with the Liberal economic update and a deficit of nearly $400 billion.
Eric Melillo says the update shows the government wasn’t prepared to handle the pandemic, and they still don’t know how to move Canada forward.
The Conservative notes people are frustrated and the Liberal update will be cold comfort for businesses and workers who are suffering.
Melillo says instead of providing hope, the plan only offers more uncertainty.
He stresses the status quo isn’t working and Canadians need clarity about what they can expect in the coming months.
Melillo is also upset the government has no plan for vaccine distribution, noting Canada will likely be getting vaccines after the U.S. and other countries.
He stresses without a strategy in place for vaccines, there is no plan for our economy.
Melillo adds the Liberals haven’t told Canadians when we will have widespread access to rapid testing, or when vaccines will be available and how they will distributed.
He warns vaccination may not start until September.
