It’s official, the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship will not be in Thunder Bay in February.
The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed the 2021 event from Fort William Gardens to the hub city of Calgary.
Local ticket holders were notified of the change a couple of weeks ago but Curling Canada confirmed the news Tuesday.
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts will instead be in the Lakehead in 2022, with a news release stating “It will be 12 months later than expected, but worth the wait”.
Thunder Bay will host the event January 28 to February 6.
Ticket holders can keep their confirmed seats or get a refund.
Curling Canada also announced the Tim Horton’s Brier, the World Men’s championship and the Canadian mixed doubles, will all be held in Calgary.
