A campaign to divert plastic bags from the landfill site continues in Dryden.
It’s being organized by the Dryden Trillium Lions Club and so far 100 pounds of bags have been collected.
Kathy Doherty was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Monday and mentioned the initiative runs until January 15.
Doherty says you can drop off your plastic bags at 3 Dingwall Parkway or call 216-9944.
She says Safeway is their depot and the local store sends the bags to their depot in Winnipeg.
They are then used by a company to make plastic outdoor decking and furniture.
Doherty says a school challenge has been launched and St. Joseph’s is currently in the lead but notes Open Roads isn’t far behind.
She’s looking for more bags from New Prospect.
