When you shop local, you do more than just support local business owners.
Allyson Pele from the Northwest Business Centre in the Rainy River district says every purchase has a ripple effect.
“It provides local economic stimulus to our small business owners, who make up so many jobs within the community. It also helps businesses support other small businesses in the community,” Pele notes, saying many businesses go on to donate to non-profits and local organizations.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business estimates nearly 24,000 Canadian retailers could close for good because of COVID-19.
