While many kids won’t get to tell Santa what they want for Christmas in person this year, the holiday magic is going virtual in Dryden.
Michelle Marie, with Michelle Marie Photography is a Sunset Country photographer who normally does family photo shoots with Santa at the Centre, part of the Festival of Trees.
With COVID-19 restrictions, Michelle’s come up with an alternative idea to support community initiatives and keep everyone, including Santa, safe.
“While there’s not that many trees this year, there’s going to be a couple grouped together so I will take a picture of the kids (or families) in front of the tree and then I insert it into a frame that Santa’s holding, it’s like a digital version of Santa.”
But the magic doesn’t stop there.
Kids will still get to see the big man in red over a video call.
“Christmas is kids and it’s Santa. I know it’s still not the same but it’s something. All the proceeds are going to the Hoshizaki House, Grace Haven and the Festival of Trees this year. We’ll do the picture right away and there’s a few minutes in between other people coming in, so the kids will have a few minutes to skype with Santa. It should be good, even Santa is looking forward to it!”
For 35 dollars, you’ll get two photos emailed to you, one of Santa holding a photo of your family and one of your family in front of the trees.
COVID-19 guidelines will be in place, with the first session this Sunday and the second the following Sunday December 6.
