The second COVID-19 death in the Thunder Bay district is a parent of a player who played pickleball.
The Chair of the Pickleball Association Toby Graveson is suggesting it brought home the reality of the pandemic.
“We took a bit of a chance with things and it went a little bit further than I think a lot of us ever expected it to go,” admits Graveson.
He adds “We thought we were safe but there’s just no safety in kind of doing…what we did.”
Graveson does not know if the outbreak could have been prevented, but notes they have to move on.
When the cases associated with the sport were first announced the Thunder Bay District Health Unit indicated 29 of them were confirmed to be connected with pickleball.
All of them were reported to be in isolation until they were cleared by public health officials.
