The province has announced a number of different parts of the province will increase COVID-19 colour levels.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says that includes the Thunder Bay District.
“Chatham-Kent, Eastern Ontario, Grey-Bruce, Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, Peterborough and the Thunder Bay and District public health regions will move to the “yellow” protect level”, states Elliott.
The new classification will come into effect as of 12:01 November 23rd and means changes to operations of bars, restaurants and gyms.
Our area, covered by the NWHU, remains at ‘green.’
A lockdown has also been announced for the Toronto and Peel areas.
In addition, Elliott says health units will be given more powers.
“We are making additional enforcement mechanisms available to local medical officers of health by amending Ontario regulation 950 under the Provincial Offenses Act. This amendment will allow tickets to be issued if public health measures set by the medical officer of health are not followed.”
