A Palladium and Copper project in Marathon is advancing to the next stage.
Generation Mining Limited is welcoming a recent announcement by the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario of the appointment of the Joint Review Panel to conduct the needed environmental assessment.
President and CEO Jamie Levy says they look forward to supporting the panel members and both governments as they complete their review in a timely manner and their priority is ensuring the company contributes to a meaningful and collaborative consultation process.
A feasibility study was started earlier this year and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
Levy notes the mining project will bring direct economic benefits to the town of Marathon, surrounding communities, and Indigenous groups in Northern Ontario.
It’s being developed on 22,000 hectares of land.
Generation Mining Limited acquired a 51% interest in the project in 2019 and is in the process of increasing that ownership to 80%.
Levy says the project will give our country a strategic position in a globally competitive mineral market for palladium and cooper, both essential to Canada’s green economy.
