An emotional tribute is returning as organizers of the Dryden Festival of Lights say the Christmas Eve tradition will continue.
David Raine and Tom Riley are again running the event.
Raine was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday.
“It’s a celebration. Family members and friends that are no longer with us on December 24 at the Dryden Cemetery. What Tom and myself do, we pre-make ice candles and we take donations for them and all our money goes to Mental Health Dryden.”
Raine says you can now sign-up for an ice candle.
“I’m starting to get a few calls and some of them are from out of province, believe it or not, where hoping that Mother Nature’s going to help us out here and we’ll get the job done. We seem to pull it off every year and it’s just getting bigger and better every year.”
Raine says the actual ceremony on Christmas Eve is amazing to see and incredibly peaceful.
He notes it will take place again this year with physical distancing and COVID-19 regulations in place.
