With 52 active COVID-19 cases and one hospitalization in the Thunder Bay district, questions arise about new restrictions for that region.
Twenty-one of those cases were announced on Tuesday, a one-day record.
Most were related to a Pickleball event.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille plans to have a talk with the province this week about whether the Thunder Bay district should be advanced to another colour level.
She explains under the provincial government’s new response framework they have been at the green level, but the number of active cases they now have actually puts them in the yellow area.
Under a yellow level, health units will see increased measures and guidelines for businesses or organizations that are open.
DeMille says that would affect the hours of operation at bars and restaurants that serve alcohol and some enhanced measures for recreational facilities and gyms.
