The Dryden Regional Health Centre is one step closer to getting dialysis, as their proposal is being looked at once again.
Chief Executive Officer, Doreen Armstrong Ross shares the latest development.
“We did get notification that our pre-capital submission for dialysis at Dryden Regional Health Centre has been re-prioritized at the ministry. That is good news, it had been on hold for quite sometime throughout the pandemic, so it was good to get that notification that our submission is being looked at and considered in the ministry.
Ross explains having the service at DRHC would lift a heavy burden for many people.
“It’s been a long time coming and we’ve had the dialysis project ongoing. We know people are having to travel out of our community for that service. To go as many times a week as they need to, to travel to Sioux Lookout or Fort Frances or Kenora or Thunder Bay even. So, for the patients that are on dialysis, it would mean a lot to not to have to leave the community for that service.”
Although nothing is for sure or set in stone yet, Ross says it’s heartening to know the capital branch at the ministry is looking at the proposal for dialysis at DRHC, seriously.
