This gentleman is my grandfather Walter Grossberndt who proudly served with the Lake Superior Motor Regiment of Thunder Bay during WWII.
He enlisted at the young age of 16 and served overseas during the conflict and took part in various battles during the war.
My grandfather was fortunate to return home and went on to live in Dryden until 2003 when he passed away at the age of 80.
I am very proud to know my grandfather fought hard for our country and I will never forget the stories both good and bad that he shared of his experiences during the war. I am thankful to all the men and women who have served our country over the years. Remembrance Day will always be a great way to thank the men and women who were not able to come home safely.
Thank you from Jon Allen
