The situation in Winnipeg continues to get worse.
According to a spokesperson from Shared Health, a COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Health Sciences Centre.
Officials say seven patients have tested positive, and that enhanced prevention and control measures are now in place.
Those measures include the restriction of patient movement in the unit where the outbreak started, and contact tracing for those who tested positive.
No information has been provided as to where in the outbreak is centered.
Manitoba says they currently have 140 COVID-19 related hospitalizations with 21 of those in the I-C-U.
The latest data from the Manitoba Government shows a positive test rate of 8.5%, well above the 0.2% rate for the Northwestern Health Unit.
Local health officials are urging everyone to stay in the region as our western neighbours are now reporting over 3,700 active cases.
