That’s the message being delivered by the Northwestern Health Unit as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Manitoba.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says you shouldn’t be headed west unless it’s absolutely necessary
“Stay in northern Ontario and avoid any travel to Manitoba that isn’t absolutely essential. We hope that the new public health orders put in place today will help reduce the current spike in cases that our neighbours are seeing.”
She says if you do have to visit Winnipeg you are asked to limit interacting with others as much as possible for 14 days after returning home.
Dr. Kit Young Hoon says this includes not visiting long-term care homes, seniors, and anyone dealing with health issues.
The City of Winnipeg is now under a “Red” response level with widespread restrictions in place.
