Greg Rickford will once again represent the Conservative party in the Kenora-Rainy River Riding in the next provincial election.
Rickford was acclaimed over the weekend.
Premier Doug Ford says Ontario residents shouldn’t read too much into the fact his party has been busy nominating people to run.
“The NDP and the Liberals are going hog wild and getting their members and I have no problem with them doing that. We want to get our folks prepared for the election and I’ve said before we aren’t going to be calling it in the spring.”
Ford says this is just part of the public political process and there’s nothing else behind it.
Under provincial legislation, there is to be an election every four years, with the next one taking place in June of 2022.
