A major funding program to spur economic growth in northern Ontario appears to be getting a facelift.
Minister of Northern Development Greg Rickford and Kenora-Rainy River MPP says he will be rolling out a renewed Heritage Fund program later this fall or early winter.
The NOHFC currently concentrates on six key funding programs: job creation, technology research and development, infrastructure and community development, youth entrepreneurship, youth internship and cooperative education, and generation and conservation of renewable energy.
Rickford says the new program follows extensive consultations with a number of groups.
“The Chamber members from across northern Ontario had significant input on what we’ve come up with. Municipal leaders, major industries and small businesses have contributed to this. And my Caucus members from northern Ontario have as well.”
