Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with a kidnapping in Nipigon.
On September 18, 29 year-old Harold Robert Sault of Lake Helen First Nation was arrested and charged with the following:
- Kidnapping while using certain firearms
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- And a variety of firearm related offences.
A few days later on September 23, 45 year-old Jayson Lawson-Balodis of Nipigon was arrested and charged with the same offenses.
Both accused have appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay and remain in custody.
Police also have Andrew Otway, of Thunder Bay, and Billy John Thompson, of Nipigon in custody.
Members of the North West Region Crime Unit are continuing their investigation and a police presence remains in the community.
BACKGROUND:
On September 14, Nipigon OPP responded to a report of a man that was abducted, forcibly confined and assaulted with a firearm.
The victim escaped his captures and received assistance from a witness who contacted police.
The victim was transported to hospital with significant injuries.
