Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit has confirmed a BC man who was the subject of a week long search in Machin died this afternoon (Sunday) in hospital in Thunder Bay.
In an official release, the SIU says 24 year old Nazariy Geletiy was located in a wooded area in Machin at about 3 pm Saturday afternoon. At that time, he was in possession of a firearm.
While still in the bush, and ‘contained’ by the OPP Emergency Response Team, Geletiy sustained a gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital in Dryden and then to Thunder Bay where he died just after 1 Sunday afternoon.
The SIU says it is not believed any member of the OPP discharged a weapon.
