The William A. George Extended Care Facility in Sioux Lookout has eased some COVID-19 restrictions.
The long-term care home is now allowing off-site visits for residents.
Those wishing for an off-site day visit must schedule in two days in advance, with overnight stays requiring one week notice.
The measures are in place to prioritize the health and safety of everyone and to ensure transportation and other services are secured.
Residents will be required to self-isolate for 14 days unless it’s for a medical appointment.
Off-site visits will be approved on a case-by-case basis depending on the health and well-being of the resident.
Administrator Cynthia Dwyer says “It has taken some time to clarify some of the new directives and ensure that our residents and their loved are able to schedule these visits in a way that complements our current on-site visitation policy. These new policies are fluid and can change so quickly depending on what is happening in our region.”
Dwyer adds staff will be monitoring residents closely and providing excellent care, but limiting their interactions with other residents.
