Scaling back openings and group sizes isn’t being considered right now in Ontario.
The province reported 170 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, the 15th straight day above the 100 mark.
However, Premier Doug Ford notes most of the cases were in the Peel, Toronto, York, Durham and Ottawa regions.
“So if you take those out, we are doing very well as a province. But we have to keep our eye on the ball constantly. Once it gets to a certain point, the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario, Dr. Williams, will be advising us the next step.”
Ford notes 14 regions are reporting no cases, while 14 other regions are reporting five or less.
No new cases are reported in northwestern Ontario.
The British Columbia government this week announced nightclubs and stand-alone banquet halls will have to close immediately to help stop the spread of the virus.
The sale of alcohol in all bars, pubs and restaurants must also cease nightly at 10 p.m.
Venues must also close at 11 p.m., unless they are providing full meal service, but they must not serve alcohol.
