Premier Doug Ford says his government and public health officials are ready to react to any case of COVID-19 breaking out in schools.
Public health officials define an outbreak as being two or more cases.
Ford is expecting to see cases.
“If it really starts taking off, I will not hesitate for a second to close these schools down. In the blink of an eye there done, there done, bang, closed. I am not chancing anything.”
Ford says he has a team ready to respond at the drop of a hat.
“They have proper protocols, every single person, including childcare, they ended up getting all there protocols at the end of July.”
The first day of elementary school in the Kenora district was Thursday.
