With COVID-19 cases increasing in Manitoba the chief public health officer in that province suggests visitors should be on the alert.
Dr. Brent Roussin agrees with the Northwestern Health when stating we should take the “appropriate precautions” travelling to the Keystone Province.
Roussin notes, “I think that this is what we’ll see moving forward. We’ll see cases going up and down, peaks and valleys on the curve and that might not coincide everywhere in the country at the same time.”
He adds community spread of the coronavirus is possible throughout Manitoba even though there some outbreaks in communal living situations such as Hutterite colonies.
“In Winnipeg we see many cases again related to mostly known cases, but there is community transmission. So really the advice is no matter where you’re going, inside or outside of Manitoba, during the pandemic right now we cannot get away from the fundamentals,” explains Roussin.
