One new forest fire has been confirmed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry in the Northwest Region by the late afternoon Thursday.
Kenora 41 is not under control at 0.3 hectares and is located near Jimmy Lake, about 28 kilometres southeast of Kenora.
There are currently 15 active forest fires in the region. One is not under control, three are under control and 11 are being observed.
Nipigon Fire 45 remains under control at 6,678 hectares.
21 crews continue to work on the fire, extinguishing hot spots in the interior and demobilizing equipment.
5 helicopters also continue to support ground efforts and bucket water as needed.
The forest fire hazard is mainly low to moderate with areas of high hazard in the districts of Fort Frances, Kenora, Dryden and Sioux Lookout.
