A Provincial Police officer in Red Lake has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing following a Special Investigations Unit probe.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Fish House Road home in Pikangikum on February 11th.
The report indicates four officers were involved in a prolonged struggle with the 28-year-old man but he was eventually handcuffed and transported to the OPP detachment.
The following day, he was diagnosed with a fractured hand and wrist.
The SIU says the evidence is clear that the complainant physically resisted arrest and the officers were within their rights in forcing him to the ground.
The report concludes there are no reasonable grounds to believe that an OPP officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
