First Mining Gold has submitted a Terms of Reference to the province for its Springpole Gold Project, 110 kilometres northeast of Red Lake.
The public can now view the document and if approved, it would serve as a framework for the preparation and review of the environmental assessment.
The company is hoping to develop a bulk tonnage mine and mill using open pit mining and conventional milling to produce gold and silver.
First Mining officials say the deposit contains 4.9 million ounces of gold and 25.3 million ounces of silver, which will provide for an estimated 12-year mine production life.
