The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has confirmed two new fires in the Northwest Region.
Nipigon 67 is located north of Little Current River, about 44 kilometres north of Nakina and is being held at 0.1 hectare. T
Fort Frances 48 is located near the Splitrock River, about 18 kilometres southwest of Nestor Falls and is considered not under control at 0.4 hectare.
As of late Monday afternoon, there are 17 active fires in the Northwest Region.
One fire is not under control, two fires are being held, two fires are under control and 12 fires are being observed. One fire was called out late Monday.
Nipigon Fire 45 by Fort Hope First Nation continues to be held at 6,678 hectares.
27 crews and 5 helicopters continue to work on the fire, but the fire is not likely to spread and weather conditions have been a big help.
The fire hazard in the region is mainly moderate to low with pockets of high fire hazard emerging in all sectors.
