There seems to be a lot of confusion among local businesses regarding the Northwestern Health Unit mandatory mask order.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they don’t require that the business refuse service if patrons aren’t wearing mask.
She notes individual business owners can choose to implement a full mask order.
However Young Hoon stresses she doesn’t want to see a major argument or physical altercation.
“We would not suggest that businesses should be escalating the situation to the point of it becoming violent or unsafe.”
Young Hoon says the policy is meant to be educational, not punitive.
