Shyanne Kavanaugh

It is with great sadness in our hearts to announce the sudden passing of Shyanne Dawn Kavanaugh “Rainbow Turtle Woman and Ice Woman” March 10, 2010 – August 13, 2020.
Shyanne is survived by her mother Trisha Kavanaugh & step dad Dave Burch, father Charles Mc Laurin, big brother Dallas Marshall (girlfriend Emma), grandparents Koko Donna and Papa Joe Cool, Papa Walter and Koko Lori Kavanaugh and her sparring partner Isaac Henry as well as her auntie monkey and uncle deadly. Aunties Josephine Kavanaugh, Pamela Napish (Marshall), Loretta Napish (June) and Linda Smith. Her uncles Louie Napish (Auntie Ginette), Shawn Kavanaugh (Maggie), Munch Henry (Zoey) , Albie Kavanaugh (Marissa), Trevor Kavanaugh (Brittany), Jessie Kavanaugh, Ray Cool (Lori) and Travis Cool .
She loved her cousins unconditionally; Sheldon & Kane Adams, Katie (Lulu) Kavanaugh, Gunz, Vivien & Henk, Alyssa, Ian, Reece Napish, Isaac & Kael Henry, Taylor Kavanaugh, Shiloh & Kiana Kavanaugh, Ryerson Kavanaugh and Kolton & Logan Norris.
Most important her besties Kianna May, Neveah, Payton, Graydon, Lana Bergman, Ken Gardner, Randy Marshall and many more……
Shyanne is predeceased by her grandfather Robert Napish, Auntie Melinda Rose, Aunties Margaret Napish, Bessie Adams & Mary Delyea, cousin Brad Napish and friend/other dad Kyle Gardner.
She was known across the Treaty #3 Pow Wow trail for her stellar jingle dress dance style, she held the status of royalty as Migisi Sahgaigan Princess within the Pow Wow arbour for numerous consecutive years and represented her First Nation at various Pow Wows across the Treaty #3 Territory.
Her laughter and humor was contagious and she often accompanied her mother to political meetings where she was being groomed to begin a path for advocating indigenous issues.
Shyanne was a star student of Migisi Sahgaigan School for her academic achievements, attendance and for being respectful to teachers and students.
Shyanne took part in many activities such as karate, dance and was active at Migisi Sahgaigan Community Events. Shyanne rarely missed a Dryden GM Ice Dogs game, she also enjoyed watching Oklahoma City Thunder & Golden State Warriors and the Green Bay Packers.
The sudden loss of Shyanne will have long lasting effects and her presence in class will be missed by her group of close knit friends at Migisi Sahgaigan School. Students will miss her laugh, her knowledge and her friendly loving spirit. Shyanne will be missed and was deeply loved by many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Monday, August 17, 2020 from 2 p.m. until time of service at the Eagle Lake First Nation Arena.
A Traditional Service will take place on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Lake First Nation Arena with Elder Roy Napish officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eagle Lake First Nation Cemetery.
