Starting today, all businesses in the Northwestern Health Unit catchment area must have a mandatory mask or face covering policy in place.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they are providing local businesses with online resources to help them implement the order.
“It includes materials to support businesses and the public. So there is signage and a sample policy that businesses can adapt to their appropriate space.”
She notes the Health Unit’s website also has a Frequently Asked Questions section for both the public and businesses to help better understand expectations of the policy.
Young Hoon says overall, most businesses, municipalities and residents support the mandatory mask policy that’s now in place.
“Generally there is a broad range of responses and thoughts with respect to the policy but overall the response has been supportive. I think a lot of people recognize that wearing a mask is a small request considering the seriousness of COVID-19.”
Wearing a mask or face covering is now mandatory in enclosed public spaces in our area. You need to wear a mask or face covering whenever you are in an enclosed (indoor) public space.
