Bearskin Airlines is set to bring back service in Dryden, Kenora, Fort Frances, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste Marie, Sudbury and North Bay.
Ron Hell is the Vice President of Marketing for Bearskin and Perimeter Aviation and he says flights will resume on September 14th.
There will be one flight daily, from Monday to Friday, starting on September 14.
Hell says the service will feature connections over Bearskin’s Thunder Bay hub to/from Air Canada’s Toronto service.
Service was suspended on March 23rd due to COVID-19.
“Travel had essentially just dried right up and more so to some communities than others. However we have been getting more and more requests, particularly from the business community, to reintroduce service.”
Hell notes “We are only introducing one flight at this time and we will be monitoring how the community responds to that before introducing further service. But absolutely the plan is to continue to increase the service levels.”
Bearskin says company wide protocols have been established to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, ensuring the safety of employees and passengers.
Hell says to introduce the startup of service, a limited number of seats on every flight between Thunder Bay and Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora will be available for 50% of the current cost of bus fare for all flights booked at September 4 for travel through November 30.
