The Dryden Fire Service is hoping to fill a key vacancy by the end of the year.
Chief Rob Grimwood says they have been operating this year without a full time Fire Prevention Officer.
He says the Fire College shut down all of their Fire Prevention Officer courses so even if they were to recruit a candidate, they were not able to provide them with the necessary training.
Grimwood says they will re-evaluate in the fall, then post the position then.
He also stresses the position needs to be filled as there is a significant inspection backlog that has occurred over the years.
Grimwood says because of the vacancy they expect to finish 2020 under budget.
