Guenter Hans Bachmann
December 29, 1926 – July 24, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce Guenter Hans Bachmann passed away on July 24, 2020 surrounded by family.
Guenter was born in Neumark, Geiseltal, Germany to Hans and Helene Bachmann. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 with his wife, Annegret and their baby son Harald, and later had a daughter Judy. Guenter worked at the Dryden Paper Mill as an electrician and later as electrical supervisor until his retirement in 1992. He had a strong faith and was an active member in the Lutheran Church in many capacities, including delivering Meals on Wheels in the community. Guenter loved many outdoor activities especially hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains. He always conducted himself with integrity, humility and compassion, and was a very kind and gentle soul. Guenter was a true gentleman. He loved his family; they were most important to him.
Guenter is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Annegret; his son Harald and grandson Hunter; his daughter Judy (Bob Wilkins, deceased) and three step-grandchildren, Kris, Jeff and Jay; his sister Helene (Guenter) Haring of Germany. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Ilse Remlinger of Germany and brother Wulf Bachmann of Dryden.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Dryden with Pastor Micheal Montague officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
Masks are mandatory and social distancing rules will observed.
