It’s my Anniversary today. No not my work anniversary…..the other one.
24 years ago today I said “I do”.
Twenty-four years ago when I should have realized that saying those 2 words was not a complete sentence. Do the ministers and justice of the peace just shorten things up to get things moving along at ceremonies? 😉
“I do.”
Come on auto correct! I know now that what the minister should have got me to say was ‘I do…whatever she says’.
Keeping a promise like that would have made things so much easier. ‘I do whatever she says’ and ‘yes dear you are right and I am wrong’.
Aaaaah but what is a partnership without a little bit of conflict? Boring. You need something to work on and work for. To strive. To achieve.
Just remember to do it her way. 😉
You might be able to imagine that my sarcasm gets me in trouble where ever I go. Quite often actually. It’s hard for people to understand that’s what it is when they don’t know you and sometimes even when they do.
My sarcasm even gets me in trouble with her sometimes. I do it to get a reaction out of her. Usually it’s just an eye-roll that heads my way and not a frying pan towards my head and that’s a good thing – because she’d run out of frying pans real quick.
There are many benefits to being married. There are. I just can’t think of one right now. That might be because of the bump on my head created by some identified flying object from the kitchen last week.
After work Laurie and I will celebrate the day with our 2 kids. I will also be gifting Laurie with a brand new….frying pan. That might have been more sarcasm. Maybe.
I hope you are enjoying a successful happy marriage or perhaps you’re just about to start on the journey of togetherness. Whichever the case – enjoy!
Oh and ladies just so you know, Laurie has some old frying pans for sale. Slightly used. If you would like a couple just say….’I do.’
