The wheels are in motion once again for Kasper Transportation.
Regular passenger bus service in northern Ontario and into Winnipeg has resumed following a brief COVID-19 shutdown.
Chief Executive Officer Kasper Wabinski says passengers will see some changes.
“We require masks on the bus and we require customers leave the mask on during the trip unless they need to drink water. We ask them to keep it on for their own safety, safety of other passengers and our drivers.”
Wabinski adds the driver is protected by a shield and everyone will be screened before they enter the bus.
That includes a self-declaration form asking customers if they’ve travelled outside of Canada or been in contact with someone who has been sick.
Wabinski stresses they have strict and detailed cleaning and sanitizing procedures in place and that will continue.
He notes Kasper will be offering service every day with the exception of Tuesday and Thursday.
“Tuesday’s and Thursday’s were usually our slower days so we took that time to take it a little bit easier on getting back into the flow of things. Not all of our staff our back. A lot of them are but not all of them. So we’re just making sure we got room for error and make sure we can deliver what we promise to the customers.”
Wabinski says an updated schedule can be found at https://gokasper.com/ or by calling 1-855-566-2378.
He says “As we enter the stage 3 of the reopening by the province, we continue to monitor its status for the safety of everyone. We have invested and will continue to invest the funds and resources to work laterally with all levels of government and communities to meet the safety requirements recommended for us to follow.”
Wabinski says “I want to thank the federal government and provincial government for doing their best in trying to make it work. But the job isn’t done yet and we got keep trying to get through this together as a team, as a country, as a province.”
The routes that have resumed include Owen Sound to Guelph, Northern Ontario, and into Winnipeg.
