It remains all quiet on the Novel Coronavirus front locally for the time being.
Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Gemmill, from the Northwestern Health Unit, says with Stage 3 of re-opening the economy this Friday, its important we keep up our safety procedures.
“I think this has to do with how well we do it and how much we respect the rules, which is why it’s really all of us in the community who need to respect the precautions.”
He explains that he isn’t sure we will get a spike of COVID-19 cases by going to Stage 3, but he’s hoping not.
“Lets hope and keep our fingers crossed that we’re going to be okay. In the event that there is more transmission locally, and anything is possible, it’s really important to keep a very close finger on the pulse of this.”
Gemmill says that with the region set to enter Stage 3 soon, there’s reason to talk more about masks.
“I’m hopeful that we won’t have any problems and will carry on as we have been. Although this is another argument for thinking about masks as most places opening Friday are indoors.”
He adds that their catchment area is in a bit of a lull for COVID-19, with the last case more than a week ago.
