Northwestern Ontario is included in the regions that will be included in Phase 3 of re-opening.
Premier Doug Ford announced 24 regions would be allowed to go to the next phase of opening the economy as of this Friday, July 17th at 12:01 am.
He says that includes most businesses that have been closed like dine-in restaurants, bars, gyms and fitness centres, most personal care services, live shows, performing arts and movie theatres.
As well, casinos, recreation facilities and activities, teams sports and live sporting events and tour and guide services can also open.
Ford says they will also increase the number of people allowed to gather.
“This will mean expanding the limits on public gatherings in regions as they enter stage three. The new limits will allow up to 100 people to gather outdoors and up to 50 people indoors,” Ford explains.
He says at all times in these gatherings, people will have to abide by physical distancing regulations if you aren’t in your social circle.
Ford says in Stage 3 nearly all businesses and public spaces will be able to open their doors safely.
Regions that won’t be affected are Toronto, Halton, York Region, Peel Region, Haldimand-Norfolk, Durham Region, Niagara, Windsor-Essex Lambton and Hamilton.
He adds that they will hold a press conference each Monday to announce which regions will be allowed to go to Phase 3.
